About Us

In Jasper, GA, and surrounding areas, those living in homelessness have no place to go. Many live in the woods, which can be especially tough in the winter when temperatures drop below freezing in the mountains.

When those cold nights rolled around…

Amy Ghorley would find people curled up on the floor of the laundromat they own in Jasper. “When I first saw people squatting in our laundromat, I took offense and called the police,” says Amy. “But God started working on my heart, and I felt Him calling us to care for them.”

In December 2021…

Amy and her husband Kevin were able to lease an affordable building that offers showers to both women and men and can house up to 20 people. The majority living there are elderly and disabled, along with others who have fallen on hard times during the pandemic. With the help of volunteers and the homeless themselves, residents are fed, clothed, and safely sheltered.

Strong in faith…

Amy and Kevin cover residents with the love of Christ through prayer and teaching and invite all residents to attend church. They also help each person search for a job and work with them to develop a plan that leads to independent living.

In the short time the shelter has been open, it has become more than a place to keep warm; it is a Refuge in Jesus because that is what God calls us to be.
